Zeljko Petrovski received his PhD in chemistry in 2004 from ITQB-Universidade Nova de Lisboa on synthesis of ligands and molybdenum complexes and organometallic compounds and investigation of their properties, application for olefin epoxidation and in cancer therapy. As postdoctoral associate from 2005-2009 beside catalysis he also worked with ionic liquids (Ls) and in supercritical fluids. As an auxiliary researcher since 2009 he worked on synthesis of pure ionic liquids containing active pharmaceutical ingredients (IL-APIs) and later on synthesis of covalent organic polymers and porous materials (2015-2016) and electroreduction of carbon dioxide (2016-17). Since December 2018 he is junior researcher at LAQV-REQUIMTE and NOVA School of Sciences and Technology focusing on the synthesis and characterization of novel Ionic Systems and biopolymers for pharmaceutical and health applications. working on synthesis and application of ionic liquids and alternative solvents for green catalysis and drug delivery. He also continues his work on funcionalized porous materials, plastic valorization and pollutant removals. Zeljko Petrovski published 38 papers in international peer reviewed journals (h-index of 20; citations: 1423; verified peer reviews 23 by web of Science assesed September 5, 2024) and one patent. His work was subject of 35 posters and oral presentations at international and national conferences. He is guest editor of the Antibiotics of the MDPI issue "Novel antiprotozoal drug formulations and treatments" (in preparation) and a peer reviewer in Pharmaceutics, Applied Sciences, Processes, Antibiotics, Data, Nanomaterials, Suschem, Catalysis and Molecules of MDPI and Frontiers in Chemistry. He is currently participating in two funded research projects as Researcher. His pedagogical skills include supervision of total of 31 BSc and Master and 2 PhD student as well as laboratory classes in Chemistry 1C at NOVA School of Sciences and Technology.
