Education activity - Teaching Polymer Processing, Rheology and Eco-Design subjects, in the frame of several Master (Polymer Engineering, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and European Master in Rheology - EuRheo), Graduation (Chemistry, Product Design) and Doctoral Programs (Polymer and Composites Engineering and Science, Materials). Member of the Pedagogical Council of the Architecture School of University of Minho (UM). Research & Development activity - Researcher of the Institute for Polymers and Composites (IPC) and associated researcher of the Digital Transformation (DTx) Colaborative Lab where she coordinates the prospective project ‘Value and Risk Analysis of Cyber-Physical Systems’. Researcher of past projects with direct funding in collaboration with several National (FIBOPE, EFAPEL, SOPREFA, BRISA, PROBOS, IBERFIBRAN, JOALPE, SOCIMORCASAL, PRIMOR) and International (PANIPOL, ELECTROVAC, ARKEMA, JOHNSON & JOHNSON, INTERTAPE, BOREALIS, LIGHTWEIGHT STRUCTURES, APPLIED SCIENCES) companies focusing on extrusion die and calibrators design, development of new products, extrusion of pharmaceuticals and preparation/optimization of nanofibers/thermoplastic composites. Principal Investigator of 2 past scientific projects, funded by Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT) and member of the research team of several other projects of the same type. Member of the research team of the following ongoing/recently ended funded (European Regional Development Fund, FEDER) projects carried out with industry: • Better Plastics – Plastics in a circular economy, Mobilizer project – ongoing (plastics films for food packaging) • S4PLAST – Sustainable Plastics Advanced Solutions, Mobilizer project – ongoing (plastics recycling, and solutions for improving recyclability) • FAMEST, Footwear, Advanced Materials, Equipment and Software - Mobilizer project (development of 3D printed functional structures) – ended (30/11/2021) • MobFood, Mobilizing scientific and technological knowledge in response to the challenges of the agri-food market - Mobilizer project (plastics films for food packaging) – ended (01/05/2021) Member of the research team of the ongoing FCT funded project ESC4SHI – Simulation and Efficient Computation for the Health, Sea and Industry, PTDC/MAT-APL/28118/2017, POCI-01-0145-FEDER-028118 (heat transfer in calibrators/cooling systems for plastics profiles) Supervisor of 7 Phd (5 completed) and 35 MSc theses (31 completed), and of several researchers in the frame of industrial and scientific projects. Management activity - • National scientific coordinator of the MIT-Portugal Program Engineering Design and Advanced Manufacturing (EDAM) focus area from November 2009 to March 2015. • Director, at UM, of the Doctoral Program Leaders for Technical Industries (LTI) of the MIT-Portugal Program from November 2009 to March 2015. • Member of the Admninistration Board of the Innovation Pole in Polymer Engineering (PIEP), from November 2009 to March 2013. • Member of the Admninistration Board of the Centre for Excellence and Innovation in the Automotive Industry (CEiiA), from December 2010 to March 2013. • Vice-President of the Engineering School Council of the University of Minho, from January 2010 to October 2012; President of the same council from October 2012 to March 2013. Member of this council since 2019. • Head of the Department of Polymer Engineering of the University of Minho from 2007 to 2010, from 2013 to 2016, and in 2019. Publications She edited 2 books, and is the author or co-author of 14 book chapters, 76 papers published in international refereed journals, 4 national (PT) patents and 182 communications presented in international conferences.
