Marta Gabriel, PhD (Female) in Biochemistry, is a Senior Researcher that joined INEGI in September 2016 to coordinate activities for characterizing indoor air quality (IAQ) in households and public settings in the scope of the national and international projects, HEBE and HEALS, respectively. Her research activities have provided significant contributions to identify opportunities for improvement of the indoor environmental conditions and for mitigation of IAQ-related health risks. In the context of this work, she has been invited as World Health Organization (WHO) Temporary Advisor in WHO expert consultations towards the development of a tool for assessment of cumulative risks from indoor air pollutants in public settings for children (yearly, since 2018). Currently, she is coordinating the participation of INEGI in international projects. This includes the EC projects NUDGE – as leader of the Portuguese Pilot “Healthy homes for long-lasting energy efficiency behaviour in Portugal” and INQUIRE focused on the identification of chemical and biological determinants, their sources, and strategies to promote healthier homes in Europe. She is author of several scientific publications in international peer-reviewed journals and communication in national and international conferences. She has been requested as reviewer in some Q1 journals in the field of environmental sciences.
