Filipe Cavadas is a researcher at CECOLAB Association – Collaborative Laboratory Towards Circular Economy. He completed the degree in civil engineering in 2007, finished the integrated master in civil engineering in 2008, and concluded the PhD in civil engineering in 2016, all three at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP). More recently, in 2021, he completed the curricular part of the master in modeling, data analysis and decision support systems at the School of Economics and Management of the University of Porto (FEP). The main research interests focus on civil engineering structures, encompassing structural health monitoring, structural assessment, damage detection methods, data analysis and knowledge extraction from databases. He is co-author of 4 papers in indexed scientific journals, 10 papers in international conferences, 4 papers in national conferences and 13 technical reports for the civil engineering industry. He was a post-doc researcher on the FCT project “S4Bridges” (2019-2021) at the Civil Engineering Department at FEUP, in the research unit CONSTRUCT – Institute of R&D in Structures and Construction. He was also a research fellow at LABEST and CONSTRUCT, at FEUP (2007- 2015), and, during his PhD programme, in 2011, he was a visiting researcher at IMAC, at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL). He also worked in consultancy companies in the design of civil engineering structures (2015-2019 and 2021-2022) and, in 2014, he was a teaching assistant at the Civil Engineering Department at the School of Engineering of the Polytechnic of Porto (ISEP). He is an effective member of the Portuguese Engineers Association.
