Dr. Juan Miguel Mancera is Professor of Zoology attached to the Department of Biology of the Faculty of Marine and Environmental Sciences of the University of Cádiz. He is currently the Director of the Central Research Service of Marine Aquaculture of the University of Cádiz. He is also the President of the Spanish Aquaculture Society (SEA). The lines of research that his Research Group follows are the following: a) study of the stress system in teleosts of commercial interest: effects on physiological processes; b) study of the osmoregulatory system in eurihaline teleosts: basic and applied aspects. Hormonal control of the osmoregulatory system; and c) interaction between energy metabolism and stress / osmoregulatory processes in eurihaline teleosts. In this sense, he has worked with various species of teleosts: gilthead sea bream, sole, sea bass, etc., addressing aspects both from a basic perspective and applied to aquaculture practice. Dr. Mancera is the author of 193 research papers published in SCI journals, and 58 book chapters, as well as more than 265 oral or panel communications presented to international and national conferences. Dr. Mancera has been a principal investigator or participant in 39 Research Projects financed with regional, national and international funds. In addition, it maintains a close relationship with companies in the aquaculture sector that is reflected in the existence of 14 contracts between them and their Research Group. He has directed / co-directed, in the last 10 years, a total of 13 Doctoral Theses, as well as 5 Laurea Magistrale Tesis and 30 Master Thesis. Finally, its Research Group receives periodically European / Ibero-American students / fellows, who have carried out learning and research work under the direction of the members of the aforementioned Research Group.
