My name is Alexandra Mónica Bastos Viana da Costa. I graduated in Biochemistry from the University of Porto, Faculdade de Ciências in 1989. From 1990 to 1994, I worked at the Parasitology Laboratory at the National Health Institute in Oporto (INSA). In 1994, I was awarded a Marie Curie Fellowship to conduct research at the Pasteur Institute in Lille, France, where I completed my PhD degree in 1998, accredited by USTL, Université de Lille I, France. From 1998 until 2002, I pursued a Post-doctoral FCT fellowship at the Institute Biology of Lille (IBL - France), focusing on leishmaniasis and immune response. Throughout my career, I have contributed to scientific literature, having published 12 articles in renowned journals and authored sections in 1 book. I have been involved in various research projects, participating in 8 different projects as a collaborator, serving as the Principal Investigator in 2 projects, and contributing as a Researcher and Supervisor in others. My expertise lies in the field of Medical and Health Sciences, with a focus on Health Sciences. My key areas include Oral Immunology, Periodontitis, Inflammatory Mediators, Haematological Parameters, and Parasitic Immunology.
