Luísa Maria Pinheiro Valente is Full Professor in ICBAS University of Porto. Holds a degree in Biology from the University of Porto since 1990, and a PhD in Biological Sciences from the Universidade de Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro since 1999. Is member of the Directive Board of CIIMAR - Interdisciplinary Centre of Marine and Environmental Research, since 2016, leading the Biology, Aquaculture and Seafood Quality Research line (http://lanuce.ciimar.up.pt/). Since 2019 is member of the Directive Board of B2E- Collaborative Laboratory for the Blue Bioeconomy. LV is also the director of the Animal Science Doctoral programme and the One Health Master Programme. Present Member of the Scientific Committee for the International Symposium on Fish Nutrition and Feeding (ISFNF). Member of the boards of the EAS-European Aquaculture Society (2018-2022) and of the Scientific board of PHASE department (Département Physiologie animale et Systèmes d'Elevage) of INRA, France (2016-2020). Participated in numerous research projects both national and international, mostly as principal researcher, including Co-operative projects with industrial partners. Supervision of 21 PhDs and 20 MSc. Has over 200 publications in international journals (H-index-41). Close collaboration with industrial partners. Main research fields: Fish Nutrition; Sustainable Aquaculture; One Health; Environmental impact; Muscle growth regulation and flesh quality; Sensorial analysis and omega-3 levels for human consumption; Circular economy.
