Margarida Castel-Branco joined the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Coimbra (FFUC) in 1992 and graduated in Pharmaceutical Sciences in 1998 with an average of 17. She immediately started research work in the field of Experimental Pharmacology / Pharmacokinetics, having been a fellow at FCT (1999-2002). In April 2003 she completed her Doctorate in Pharmacy / Pharmacology, with maximum classification. In that same year, she started her collaboration with FFUC as a guest lecturer and between 2003 and 2008 she was Infarmed's evaluator of AIM processes for BD/BE generic drugs. She collaborated with the Higher School of Nursing in Coimbra in the teaching of Pharmacology (2010-2016). Since 2009 she has been an Assistant Professor at FFUC, in the Laboratory of Pharmacology and Pharmaceutical Care. Her research interests, always based on Pharmaceutical Sciences, and specifically Pharmacology, are currently related to the areas of Pharmacotherapy, Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Care. She is an integrated researcher at the Coimbra Institute for Clinical and Biomedical Research. In addition to her doctoral thesis, she presents herself as co-author of 4 books, 7 book chapters, 44 international and 7 national peer-reviewed articles. She presents 85 international and 25 national abstracts, resulting from 100 oral communications and 200 posters at international and national scientific events. Some of these works have been recognized with the attribution of prizes (16). She has been invited to speak at various events (31) as well as to moderate scientific/debate sessions (20). She has participated in several academic juries (6 PhD, 24 master's, 14 equivalent to a master's degree, 13 seminars and 118 curricular internships) and pedagogical-professional juries (such as those of the Patient Counseling Contest). Her scientific activity also leads her to carry out article review tasks (10 different journals). She has been organizing several scientific events throughout her career (over 20). She provides consultancy services when requested to do so, namely by the Portuguese Pharmaceutical Society. In the lines of research in which she currently operates, it is worth mentioning her participation in the research team of the European Simpathy project (2015-2017) and now in a AICIB Contract. With regard to the pedagogical component, she has been teaching several curricular units in the area of Pharmacology, Pharmacotherapy and Clinical Pharmacy. She has already taken over 10 curricular units at the undergraduate level and 3 at the postgraduate level in several academic years. She supervised 3 PhD students, 20 Master's students, 5 equivalent to the Master's degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences and 48 internship monographs; she is currently supervising 1 PhD and 5 Master students, the last ones expected to be concluded during the present academic year. She is co-author of 26 articles of a pedagogical nature/continuing education and her 4 books and 4 of the book chapters presented have a pedagogical nature. She has been participating as a trainer in several postgraduate courses (10) and updating and continuous training courses (26), in collaboration with various entities, particularly with a view to accompanying health professionals in their professional performance. At FFUC, in addition to having participated in the creation committee of the Degree in Biomedical Pharmacy and she is currently its Assistant Coordinator. She belongs to the Portuguese Society of Pharmacology and the European Society of Clinical Pharmacy . She is a member of the Observatory of Plant-Drug Interactions. She is a founding partner of the Portuguese Society of Science in Laboratory Animals and Scientific-Professional Society of Ibero-American Community Pharmacy. Currently, she is the Coordinator of the Coimbra Center of the Center for Bioethics Studies.
