Nuno Eduardo da Cruz Simões is an Associate Professor with tenure and Head of the Department of Civil Engineering of the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Coimbra. He is a researcher at INESC Coimbra. Nuno has a degree (pre-Bologna) in Civil Engineering and a Master's (pre-Bologna) in Hydraulics, Water Resources, and Environment from the University of Coimbra and a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Imperial College London. He received the international award "The Poul Harremoes Award for Best Urban Drainage Paper by a Young Author", organized by the joint committee of Urban Drainage of the IWA/IAHR (International Water Association / International Association for Hydro-Environment Engineering and Research), at the 12th International Conference on Urban Drainage (12th ICUD, 2011). He received the APRH 2012/2013 award for the best doctoral thesis defended in Portugal or by a Portuguese author. Nuno works in national and international research and consultancy projects with companies and national entities in the fields of hydraulics, hydrology, floods, water supply, and drainage systems. He is the author of several publications in national and international scientific journals and conferences.
