After a Master 2 in Agricultural and agronomy engineering from the INA P-G (AgroParisTech), Paul Verdu obtained a PhD. in Biological Anthropology and Human Population Genetics from the Université Pierre et Marie Curie (Sorbonne Université) and the Muséum national d'Histoire naturelle, on the genetic history of peopling of Central Africa under the supervision of Pr. Evelyne Heyer. After a post-doctorate at the Noah A. Rosenberg Lab at the University of Michigan and, then, Stanford University (USA), Paul Verdu is curently a tenured CNRS researcher of 1st Class in Human Population Genetics and Anthropological Genetics at the Ecoanthropology Lab (UMR7206) in the Musée de l'Homme (Paris). His research focuses mainly on human peopling history and how demography and culture have influenced the genetic evolution of our species. Today, he studies primarily the genetic and linguistic migration histories (recent and ancient) of African populations.
