Alexandra Moutinho completed her PhD in Mechanical Engineering (Nonlinear Flight Control) in 2007, the MSc in Mechanical Engineering
(Systems specialization) in 2001 and the degree in Mechanical Engineering (Systems specialization) in 1998, all at Instituto
Superior Técnico, Universidade Técnica de Lisboa. She is Associate Professor and Deputy-Director for Defence and Security
RTD Initiatives at Instituto Superior Técnico - Universidade de Lisboa, Senior Researcher at the Institute of Mechanical Engineering
(idMEC) of the Associated Laboratory in Energy, Transports and Aeronautics (LAETA), and leader of the research area "Earth
Systems: Oceans to Near Space" of the MIT Portugal Program. She has published 23 articles in specialized international journals
and more than 30 where presented and/or published in international conferences. She supervised 1 postdoc and 2 doctoral students
and currently supervises other 5 PhD students. She has supervised more than 60 master's dissertations. She participates/has
participated in 3 European and 13 National funded projects, of which 6 as Principal Investigator or Unit Coordinator. She
participates/has participated in 8 scientific committees (includes Technical Program Committees, Conferences and Workshops
organization). She works in the area of Engineering Sciences and Technologies with emphasis on Mechanical Engineering, Systems
area (Control and Robotics).
