Ana Catarina Canário completed her PhD in Psychology in 2015 at the University of Minho, (Portugal). Since 2016, she has been working at the Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences of the University of Porto, where, since 2022, she has been an assistant researcher at the Center for Psychology at the University of Porto, under an Institutional Stimulus for Scientific Employment agreement. Her research work is carried out in the field of developmental psychology. During her Ph.D., she studied the transition to parenthood as a normative developmental trajectory in adulthood, and more recently, her research focuses on evaluating the effects of parenting interventions as educational tools to promote the adequate development of school-age children and family well-being. Her research has been developed within research projects that have been funded by grants she has been awarded as principal investigator, and as a member of research teams in Portugal and Europe, by national and international funding agencies. In recent years she has established multiple international collaborations that have been fruitful in developing networks, internationalizing her work, and contributing to scientific outputs. Her research products are predominantly in the area of developmental psychology, integrate diverse methods of research and data analysis, and have an impact on the scientific community, reflected in more than 450 citations in Web of Science. She currently serves as editor for three scientific journals; and is also a reviewer for 18 journals, most of which are in the field of developmental psychology. She is an open science advocate, seeking to disseminate knowledge about open science practices and encourage its use in psychology research in Portugal and Europe. Her research on the effects of parenting interventions crosses different areas of knowledge, with the purpose of evaluating the quality of implementation, effects, costs and utilities, and the sustainability of interventions. It also has a translational character with an impact on the community, by evaluating the effects of intervention implemented by family support professionals as part of routine care practice, with the support and supervision of her research team. Her work is guided by the conviction that the family is a key educational context in promoting children's development and that supporting parents through evidence-based intervention programs is a guarantee of compliance with children's rights.
