Marine Biologist and PhD in Marine Sciences (University of Alicante, Spain), with a solid training and extensive experience on ichthyology, marine ecology, ethology, fish welfare, acoustic telemetry and aquaculture. International mobility and active participation in a wide range of projects throughout the Mediterranean Sea and the Norwegian coasts, mainly focused on sustainable aquaculture, assessing the influence of aquaculture activities on farmed and wild fish populations, marine resources and coastal ecosystems, collaborating with diverse international institutions. More recently, my experience in farmed fish has led me to participate in several international projects realted to fish welfare in aquaculture, without neglecting related projects with the ecology of fish behaviour and the dynamics of coastal resources. Current and future reseach lines focus on developing diverse strategies to ensure a more responsible aquaculture activity by investigating and validating behavioural indicators of fish welfare, developing innovative operational tools to monitor fish welfare at farms, assessing the effects of environmental enrichment on farmed fish species, exploring humane stunning and slaughtering techniques, and rising welfare management plans at commercial and global scale. Extensive experience in the design and development of projects, experiments and scientific studies, sampling from boats and scuba, processing, analysis and management of databases, and publication of reports, articles and scientific dissemination. Participation in various national and international projects, and assistance to numerous scientific congresses and workshops. Author of several reports, scientific articles published in indexed journals. Supervision of undergraduated, MSc and PhD students.
