Flávia Rodrigues completed her Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry in 2017, and her Master´s degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology in 2019 at the University of Coimbra, Portugal. She performed her Master´s thesis project at the "Functional Genomics and RNA-based Therapeutics Laboratory", under the scientific supervision of Dr. Miguel Mano, at the Center for Neuroscience and Cell Biology – CNC/CIBB, University of Coimbra. During her Master’s thesis, where she started working with microRNAs and study their roles in cardiac fibrosis. Currently, she is a PhD student of the PhD Programme in Experimental Biology and Biomedicine (PDBEB), working under the supervision of Dr. Miguel Mano. Flávia is mainly interested in cardiovascular diseases, molecular cardiology and non-coding RNA biology. Her PhD work is focused on the study of the role of non-coding RNAs, in particular microRNAs and their targets, in the progression of cardiac fibrosis. This work aims to elucidate novel mechanisms controlling the progression of cardiac fibrosis, one of the most prevalent pathological conditions globally.
