Cátia Vilas Boas, currently a PhD student in Pharmaceutical Sciences (FFUP), has a master's degree in Quality Control since 2017 (FFUP) and a degree in Applied Biology since 2015 (University of Minho). His research areas are analytical and environmental chemistry. In 2017, Cátia Vilas boas received a 12-month research grant to conduct environmental studies of new antifouling compounds under the FCT-funded project "Overcoming environmental problems associated with anti-fouling agents: synthesis of non-toxic nature-inspired biocides and immobilization of polymeric coatings ". In 2018 she started her PhD, and was awarded with a FCT scholarship, with the dissertation entitled "New eco-friendly coatings containing synthetic nature-inspired compounds". She published a review article entitled "An antifouling model from the sea: a review of 25 years of zosteric acid studies" in the international journal Biofouling. Cátia Vilas Boas presented 2 oral and 7 poster communication at national and international conferences, receiving in 2019 the international award for best poster communication, offered by the Scientific Committee of the Marine Bioprospecting and Biotechnology Conference (BIOPROSP) in Norway. Since her graduation, Cátia has been involved in several activities of scientific dissemination and organization of which we can highlight the recreational director in the 18th National Meeting of Biology Students (XVIIIENEB), the participation in the participation in the international scientific communication contest entitled FameLab ( semifinalist) in 2017, the participation as a monitor of the European Researchers Night in 2013 and again in 2017, and the creation of a new scientific dissemination activity for society, at the Leixões Port Open Day in 2018 and 2019.
