Vukosava Milic Torres

Vukosava Milic Torres is the Co-Head and responsible for operation sand scientific applications of the BioISI Mass Spectrometry facility since 2021, integrated in the BioSystems and Integrative Sciences Institute of Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa. Vukosava Milic Torres graduated in Chemical Engineering – subdivision analytical chemistry (1994) and received her MSc in chemistry (2001) at the Faculty of Sciences, University of Novi Sad, in Novi Sad Serbia. She obtained her PhD degree from the Military Medical Academy, in Belgrade (2007) with a major in Pharmacology and Toxicology, studying biomedical properties of functionalized fullerenes. The research interests of Dr. Torres involve the application of high-resolution mass spectrometry and integrative omics in the field of clinical and translational medicine. Her goal is to gain insights into disease mechanisms, biomarker discovery, personalized medicine, and the development of innovative diagnostic and therapeutic approaches that can be translated from the laboratory to clinical practice. Dr. Torres's work encompasses a multidisciplinary approach, integrating data from proteomics and metabolomics platforms to better understand complex biological systems and improve patient care outcomes. CV Highlights: i) 28 original papers and 5 book chapters (h-index 15, SCOPUS); ii) Principal Investigator of the FCT project PARKSIA (PTDC/BTM – TEC/28554/2017) and five internal BioISI projects under umbrella of FCT strategical project UIDB/04046/2020; iii) Team member in 18 national projects (FCT, Portugal); iv) Vice-president of general counsel of the Portuguese Association of Proteomics- REDE PROCURA.
