David Draper Munt received his degree in Biology with a Botany speciality in 1996 from the University of Barcelona (Spain). He was immediately incorporated as a researcher at the National Museum of Natural History and Botanical Garden (Portugal) until 2004 when he became the Seed Bank Manager of the University of Lisbon (2004-2007). He obtained the Degree of Profound Studies (DEA in Spanish) in Agricultural and Forestry Biotechnology and Plant Genetic Resources as well as a Specialization in Plant Genetic Resources (both in 2002) from the Technical University of Madrid (Spain). In 2007 he gained a permanent position as Curator of the Germplasm Plant Bank at the Technical University of Madrid. He received his PhD in Environmental Sciences in December 2010 from the King Juan Carlos University (Madrid, Spain) with Summa Cum Laude. He was then hired by Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja (Ecuador) as Coordinator of the GIS lab (2011-2012), being an Invited Professor until 2015. During this academic period, he was teaching disciplines related to Conservation biology and geographic information systems. He returned to Portugal in 2015 with a Postdoctoral FCT grant to test the plant's resilience to climate change, a project developed between the University of Lisbon and the University of British Columbia (Canada) with several stays abroad in Vancouver until 2021. In 2022, he integrated the Environmental Economics Knowledge Center at Nova School of Business and Economics as a researcher. This research centre focuses to produce high-quality multidisciplinary research by fostering cooperation between economists and environmental scientists. His contribution focuses on applied projects, and on creating knowledge and expertise to assist decision-making. He is currently affiliated with the Centre for Ecology, Evolution and Environmental Changes (cE3c) of the Faculty of Science, University of Lisbon. David is also Visiting Teacher of the Master in Environmental Management and Sustainable Development at the Higher Polytechnic Institute of Manica (Mozambique). David's major research is field-based, largely empirical, and focuses on species interactions with the environment and data analysis. He has a deep knowledge of GIS technology but also Perl, Python and R programming languages. Throughout his career, he: a) published 66 peer-reviewed SCI articles (46 of them independently of PhD supervisors, 12 as the first author, 16 as the corresponding author ) with an accumulated IF of 1510 citations, h-index=21 and i10-index=38 (Scholar); b) published 10 books, 15 book chapters and 16 conference papers; c) shared results at scientific conferences with 30 invited, 40 orals and 85 poster communications, d) supervised 3 PhD thesis and 2 MSc dissertations; e) was part of the Scientific Committee of an International Conference. David has participated in 60 projects, 7 of them as Principal Investigator (PI) and the other 7 as Co-Principal Investigator (Co-PI), all using interdisciplinary research teams and gathered by competitive research funds. David has also participated as a Professor in MSc and PhD programs in several countries and as a jury of academic degrees. He is an active reviewer with activities in 39 different Peer Review journals. He is an active member of several national and international Committees being part of the IUCN expert Crop Wild Relative Specialist Group and the scientific committee of the Portuguese Red Book of Plants. He was invited to join the Editorial Board of Frontiers in Ecology and Evolution, Agronomy and LIFE. David has managed to establish an extensive research network with more than 637 collaborator(s) co-authorship of scientific papers from more than 50 countries.
