Ana Leão is currently an invited assistant professor in the Section of Autonomous Education and General Training, namely in the Department of Linguistics and the Department of Languages, Cultures, and Modern Literatures at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities of Nova University Lisbon. She has already taught the following curricular units: Communication and Intercultural Reflection in Context (CRIC) - Bachelor's degree in Portuguese and Management at Nova University Lisbon; Inclusion and Diversity, a cross-cutting unit in various master's programs in teaching; Education, Curricula and Multiculturality to various masters’ degrees; Language and Intercultural Education (Master’s in teaching English in the 3rd Cycle of Basic Education and Secondary Education and Master’s in teaching English in the 1st Cycle of Basic Education). She also teaches the curricular units Didactics of English I and II in the Language Teaching Master's programmes at the University of the Azores. She holds a Ph.D. in Didactics of Foreign Language Teaching - Multilingualism and Education for Global Citizenship. Her interests include areas of education for intercultural citizenship, methodologies for teaching foreign languages, and CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) or in Portuguese, AICL (Aprendizagem Integrada de Conteúdo e Língua). She has been working for Kendirstudios and DGE (Directorate-General for Education in Portugal), as an evaluator and validator of educational content for digital educational games in the field of languages and other interdisciplinary subjects. She is a member of CETAPS (Centre for English, Translation, and Anglo Portuguese Studies) at Nova University Lisbon. She was a member of the coordinating team of CANDIICE, a European Erasmus+ project for innovation and research for educators for citizenship. She was awarded a research scholarship from CETAPS and FCT in 2020. She has published several articles in journals and a book chapter on CLIL. She has received 2 awards and/or honourable mentions. In her professional activities, she has collaborated with 2 co-authors on scientific articles. In her Curriculum Vitae, the most frequent terms in the context of scientific, technological, and artistic-cultural production are: Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR); Intercultural Competence; Intercultural Domain; English Language Teaching (ELT); Teachers' Perceptions and Beliefs; Citizenship and Development; Democratic Competence; Integrated Content and Language Learning; Curriculum Goals; Scientific Domain/Area: Education Sciences: language teaching; Scientific Domain/Field: Education Sciences: Language Teaching. She also has experience as a foreign language teacher, translator, and interpreter in Iceland, Portugal, and Spain. She taught English to young people and adolescents (2nd and 3rd cycles) for 27 years in Portugal. She was vice-president and coordinator of tutors in a school cluster in Setúbal, where she developed new learning projects for adolescents with special needs or at risk of dropping out. She also had experience as a foreign language teacher for adults from different cultures and backgrounds in Madrid and Reykjavik. She worked as an English teacher in language institutes in Madrid and Reykjavik and as a translator and interpreter at the University of Iceland and Islandsstofa.
