Nadya Vasileva Dencheva is a Junior Researcher DL 57/2016 (DOI 10.54499/DL57/2016/CP1377/CT0080) at the University of Minho, Dept. of Polymer Engineering, Institute for Polymers and Composites. She graduated as certified engineer in "Technology of the Organic Synthesis and Fuels" by the University of Chemical Technologies "Assen Zlatarov", Burgas, Bulgaria. Defended PhD degree in the area of Polymer Science and Composites by the University of Minho, Portugal in 2008. Her scientific interests and competences are related to: Polymer nano-composites by In-situ polymerization; Reactive micro-encapsulation; Synthesis of electroconductive composites; Advanced synchrotron WAXS/SAXS analyses of polymers; Molecular imprinting for selective adsorption/filtration of bioactive entities; Micro/nanoparticles for protein and enzyme immobilization; Biocatalysts for green chemistry applications; Enzyme cascade reactions; Biosensors. Dr. Dencheva has participated in 16 R&D projects as a member of the research team: 1 funded by ALBA Synchrotron – Barcelona, Spain; 5 funded by DESY (Deutsches Elektronen Synchrotron – Hamburg, Germany); 5 – by the Portuguese Foundation of Science and Technology; 1 - funded by TecMinho, 2 projects funded by the Bulgarian Agency of Research and Development and 3 by other funding entities. Also, she has some experience in supervision of undergraduate and graduate students: 2 PhD theses ;9 master theses, 8 undergraduate trainees, 2 ERASMUS students and 6 BI grant holders in the frames of FCT R&D projects. Most of these supervisions were effectuated during the last 5 years. Since 2022 she started teaching activities in the frame of various Curricular Units with undergrads of Bachelor's Degrees in Materials Engineering and Polymer Engineering. Dr. Dencheva also has some editorial experience as Guest Editor for a Special Issue: “Synthesis, Characterization and Application of Polymer-Based Materials” of the MDPI journal “Molecules”, https://www.mdpi.com/journal/molecules/special_issues/H9J5126872 . Some metrics data: So far, Dr. Dencheva has published altogether 50 papers in international peer reviewed journals, 3 book chapters and 6 patents (h index = 19; i10 index = 32) Also, 3 full conference papers and 14 short communications in the HASYLAB at DESY Annual Reports Collection were elaborated with her participation. She has also delivered approximately 70 communications at international conferences, including presentations and posters.
