Diogo Gaio Chaves (1997), born in Castelo de Vide, is currently pursuing a master's degree in Historical Musicology at FCSH, the New University of Lisbon's School of Social Sciences and Humanities, developing a project titled "Análise e Proposta de Encenação de Ópera Portuguesa do Século XVIII: La Vera Costanza - Dramma Giocoso de Jerónimo Francisco de Lima (1785 e 1789)" under the supervision of João Pedro Cachopo. He is a collaborator of CESEM - Research Centre for Sociology and Aesthetics of Music, being a part of the Music, Critical Theory and Communication Research Group, and of the Opera Studies Research Cluster. His main interests are related to opera direction, staging, remediation, and performance. He holds a bachelor's degree in International Relations from ISCSP, the University of Lisbon's School of Social and Political Sciences (2018), and a post-graduation in Aesthetics and Artistic Studies - Musical Arts and Musicology from FCSH, the New University of Lisbon's School of Social Sciences and Humanities (2019). Regarding his artistic education, he began his musical education as a trumpet player in Banda União Artística, and has finished the Basic Music Course in Trumpet at Escola de Artes do Norte Alentejano (2013), and the Secondary Music Course in Composition in the class of Daniel Schvetz (2018) at the National Conservatory of Lisbon where currently he is studying Voice with António Wagner Diniz, and is a part of the choir "Musaico", conducted by Tiago Marques.
