Jéssica Domingues Silva is a PhD student in Biosciences at the University of Coimbra. She holds a BSc degree in Forensic and Criminal Sciences from Instituto Universitário Egas Moniz and an MSc in Biochemistry from the University of Coimbra. During her bachelor's, she attended two International Congresses in Forensic Science and Criminal Behaviour and one event organized by CiiEM. Over these three years, she was also part of the organizing committee for the VII International Congress of Forensic Science and Criminal Behaviour and did volunteer work for the João 13 association in Monte da Caparica. In her final year of the BSc degree, she undertook a scientific redaction for the Portuguese Catholic University in Lisbon, regarding a project on Type 1 Diabetes. Throughout her MSc degree, Jéssica completed an academic internship focusing on the inorganic synthesis of complexes with transition metals (platinum(II) and palladium(II)) and their analysis by vibrational spectroscopy at the R&D Unit "Molecular Physical-Chemistry" of the University of Coimbra. It was also at this R&D Unit that she developed her master’s thesis, which resulted in a scientific paper with her as the first author. Additionally, she attended five seminars on various topics, primarily focusing on vibrational spectroscopy with biomedical applications and to the 18th Oxford School on Neutron Scattering. She was the first author in an oral communication and a scientific poster, co-author in two oral communications, in two scientific papers and two scientific posters. Jéssica also participated in three scientific expeditions to Diamond Light Source, Ltd., has developed expertise in inorganic synthesis, vibrational spectroscopy, scientific writing and presentation, as well as project organization and teamwork. Finally, she has successfully published a scientific paper as the first author during her MSc and has contributed to multiple research projects and scientific papers.
