Pedro F. Pereira graduated in Civil Engineering at Faculty of Engineering, University of Porto (FEUP) in 2009. The Master thesis obtained grade A (Excellent) on the European grading scale. He developed his PhD work from Nov 2013 to Jul 2018. A general framework for OB in residential buildings analysis was proposed and special focus was given to the detection of some occupant actions, predicting OBs and determining occupant impacts in the indoor environment were made. The thesis was nationally recognised with the annual award of UPORTO to the best civil engineering PhD thesis. His research activity started in 2013, participating in 4 national R&D projects and 1 international R&D project. In 2013 Pereira participated in an R&D for the industry intending to create an energy-efficient ceramic tile roofing using cool pigments. Between 2013 and 2015, he was hired as a full-time researcher of a competitive project with the reference QREN-IDT-30209/2012 (financed by ERDF) whose objective was to develop an energy-efficient thermal mortar and thermally and mechanically optimised masonry blocks. Then, he was hired to integrate a research team on the Institute of Construction, to work on an R&D project to optimise the performance of residential buildings taking into account the occupants' behaviour. In 2015, the candidate participated in the organising committee member of the international conference PATORREB, being a chair in several sessions. From 2016 to 2019, he was the full-time researcher in a national project, with the reference POCI-01-0247-FEDER-017840, that intends to create a modular nZEB with PV and energy storage from second-life electric vehicle batteries. In this project, the candidate developed algorithms to detect occupants' actions and impacts that were used to optimise the automation of the building management system (BMS). The candidate is currently working as a PhD researcher in an international R&D project (SOE3/P3/E0865) from the competitive INTERREG SUDOE program. His final goal was to create a DBT using ML routines to manage the housing stock based on BIM and building simulation to enables building stock entities to efficiently manage the housing, taking into account IEQ and EE criteria. In 2019, the candidate was a member of the Scientific Commission of the 3rd international conference DCE. In 2019 the candidate was chosen to represent the thematic line 6 (Efficient and smart Construction) of the research centre CONSTRUCT in Brussels to attend the H2020 info day. Pedro F. Pereira published 18 papers in international peer-review top tier Q1/Q2 journals. From those, he is the first author of six. He also published three papers as the first author in Scopus journals. He is the first author of one international book in Springer Briefs and author of two international book chapters. His work's citations are doubling from year to year: 8 in 2017, 17 in 2018, 34 in 2019, 67 , and in 2020. He has a SCOPUS h-index of 10. He also published in 15 national and international conferences and was the speaker of seven oral presentations. The candidate was an invited reviewer of 65 ISI journal papers. He is currently a member of the editorial board of three international journals, including one ISI. Colleagues from the Brazilian UFSC and the Danish DTU invited him to co-edit an international book about Occupant Behaviour. The candidate was the co-supervisor of seven MSc students and was invited to be an examiner in one MSc jury panel. He has contributed with two new methods to detect occupant actions using environmental sensors developed within an SME in the frame of the R&D project POCI-01-0247-FEDER-017840. The candidate collaborated in the scientific research and in the laboratory tests that lead to the development of the commercial thermal insulating mortar "ISODUR" under the R&D project QREN-IDT-30209/2012. He participated in Consulting activities for the industry of an overall service delivery of more than 250.000 euros.
