I'm Carla Brazinha, Assistant Researcher, with a 5-years degree in Chemical Engineering, specialization in Biotechnology at Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon; and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering at FCT NOVA in end 2008, focused on Pervaporation of wine aroma and online Mass Spectrometry. I have a Post-Graduation in Enology at UC Davis USA (2005-2008). Between my degree and Ph.D., I've had an internship at the Process Technology Department at Zeneca, Scotland, and then a technical permanent position at a chemical company, where I had contact with the wine industry, among others. My scientific interests are (1) Biorefinery of microalgae, plants, and fish; (2) Membrane emulsification; (3) Characterization of mixed gases/vapor transport properties of dense films by online Mass Spectrometry. I published 63 papers in peer-reviewed journals (index i-10 of 35, h index 17, >1000 citations, since 2018 per Google Scholar); 3 book chapters; 46 oral communications and 49 poster communications. I had worked or am currently working on 23 projects: 3 European, 5 National directly with companies, 7National FCT (last 2 as PI), 1 Bilateral project with ITM, Italy, 1 funded by CNMS in the US and Chimsep, Marie European Project. I won the Santander NOVA 2022 Award as PI. Advised concluded: 1 postdoc, 6 Ph.D. students (5 as supervisor) and 13 Master students (8 as supervisor). Currently advising 5 Ph.D. students (4 as supervisor) and 1 granted Master. I was the Thesis opponent of 14 Master and 1 Ph.D. candidates. Proposal evaluator of the research funding programs: KBBE FP7 (2013), Czech Republic research program (2015, 2016, 2020), H2020-BBI-JTI (2017) and Opus 17 evaluation panel of the National Science Centre Poland (NCN) (2019). Topical Advisory Panel of "Membranes" journal since 2019. European Membrane Society Council member from February 2021.
