Holding a BA degree in Dramatic Arts (ESTC), a Master’s degree in Directing (ESTC), and a PhD in Performative Arts (FLUL), Statt Miller has devoted herself to the theorizing of performing arts and theater criticism. While working in theater research she has been a member of the APCT (Portuguese Association of Theater Critics) and IACT (International Association of Theatre Critics) since 2016, as well as a research scholar of the Department of Martyrology and Hagiography of the Center for Classical Studies of the School of Arts and Humanities of the University of Lisbon, with which she developed a thesis on the theme Christian Martyrdom as a Performance. She is the sole author of the theater criticism blog O Calcanhar de Aquiles (The Achilles’s Heel: www.ocalcanhardeaquiles.wordpress.com), where she publishes reviews on a regular basis. She is also a contributor to the Portuguese Performative Arts magazine Sinais de Cena and Sinais em Linha (www.sinaisemlinha.wordpress.com) with reviews and other articles. Statt Miller has developed work as a performer and dramaturgist. She is a part of the PROPOSITA´RIO AZUL theatre company and works as artistic consulter to the LOBO MAU’s theatre company. Additionally, she has occasionally collaborated with Portuguese directors and companies, such as MARTIM & NOV A COMP ANHIA; LOBO MAU PRODUC¸O~ES, LAMA TEATRO, GATO QUE LADRA, OS PATO BRAVO, MALA VOADORA amongst others.
