Mariana Gonçalves graduated in Biology in 2018 at the Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro University (UTAD). In 2022, she completed her masters in Clinical Laboratory Biology from UTAD. In 2020, for 3 months, she was a research fellow funded by FCT in the Practical Course - Application of biological models to ecotoxicology studies. She was a research fellow of the project Exploring in vivo U1 snRNA splicing modulation as an alternative therapy for Mucopolysaccharidosis IIIC funded by the National MPS Society USA and which is being developed at the National Health Institute Dr. Ricardo Jorge Porto (INSA). Currently, she is on a PhD fellow funded by FCT entitled "Innovative & personalized RNA-based therapies for rare diseases and development of models for their testing: application to Mucolipidosis II in the Lysosomal Storage Disorders group at INSA. She is also part of two FCT Research Units, the first the Center for Animal Science Studies (CECA; ICETA, University of Porto) which now integrates the new associated laboratory AL4animals and the second Center for the Research and Technology of Agro-Environmental and Biological Sciences (CITAB; University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro). Mariana Gonçalves is co-author of 5 articles published in indexed journals, and 1 article in the Portuguese journal of Zootechnics. She also presented 30 oral communications, 9 as first author, authored or co-authored 51 poster communications. In 2021 she received 1 best oral communication award at the 17 th International Symposium of the Portuguese Society of Metabolic Disorders and in 2023 she received 1 best conference Poster, Dia do Jovem Investigador.
