Tiago André Moreira Gomes

Currently, Tiago Gomes is a PhD student of the doctoral program in Biomedical Sciences. He graduated in Applied Biology at School of Sciences (University of Minho) in 2018. In the third year of degree, Tiago performed a project that gave him the opportunity to develop his technical skills. After the graduation, he applied for a master's degree in Health Sciences to explore the world of research in the field of human health. His master's thesis consisted in testing the application of factors (molecules and vesicles) released by mesenchymal stem cells to treat spinal cord injury. During his master's thesis, he developed skills in different experimental techniques, such as experience with spinal cord injury mice, behavioral and sensory paradigms and cell culture procedures. Tiago is co-author of 1 peer-reviewed paper and author of one poster presented in the Neuroscience Research Domain Retreat (NERD). One of the highlights of his master was an invitation to give an oral presentation on his thesis work at the international conference "Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine International Society (TERMIS)".
