Jorge Álvaro Ferreira holds a degree from the Escola Superior de Educação, of the Polytechnic Institute of Porto, specializing in Musical Education, and from the Escola Superior de Música e Artes do Espectáculo of the Polytechnic Institute of Porto (ESMAE), where he completed the Ancient Music Course, specializing in Recorder, with an honorable mention awarded by the Eng. António de Almeida Foundation. He also studied at the Hochschule der Kunste Bern with Michael Form. In 2011, he obtained a Master's degree in Music for Vocational Education from the University of Aveiro with a dissertation on "Improvisation and Ornamentation in the Learning of the Recorder," and in 2018-2019, he completed the Postgraduate Studies in Advanced Polyphony at ESMAE. Since 2019, he has been a doctoral student and research collaborator at the Center for Classical and Humanistic Studies at the University of Coimbra, with the theme "The Practice of Counterpoint in the 16th Century from Musical Manuscript 242 of the University of Coimbra," under the guidance of professors José Abreu and Paulo Estudante. In 2019, he founded the Ensemble Canto Mensurable, dedicated to the interpretation of music found in the Musical Sources from the Monastery of Santa Cruz in Coimbra, now deposited in the General Library of the University of Coimbra.
