Sandra Pereira Vinagre is a researcher at the Centre for Classical Studies, focusing on how ancient theatre is interpreted, adapted, and staged in modern political contexts, particularly with regard to migration. She holds a Master’s degree, graded 19/20, and was awarded her PhD in Classical Reception in 2022, which was approved "summa cum laude", at the School of Arts and Humanities, University of Lisbon. Since 2014, she has been invited to teach undergraduate classes and seminars in Master’s programmes at the School of Arts and Humanities, University of Lisbon. Between 2018 and 2019, she collaborated with “The Trojan Women Project”, translating into Portuguese a play and a documentary film about an adaption of a Greek tragedy by Syrian refugee women. In 2019 she was invited by the APGRD (Archive of Performances of Greek and Roman Drama, Oxford University) to participate in a one-day conference entitled "Classical Theatre and the Middle East". Since 2012, she has actively participated in several national and international scientific conferences, particularly at the Universities of Aveiro, Braga, Clermont-Ferrand, Lisbon, London, Nantes, Oxford, Paris, and Valencia, and has published articles in national and international journals and books. She is the author of "As Mulheres Troianas da Síria" ("Syrian Trojan Women"), published in 2024.
