Hugo Peixoto is an Assistant Researcher at the ALGORITMI Research Centre at the University of Minho, Portugal. He previously worked as Director of the Information Systems Department at the Hospital Centre of Entre o Douro e Vouga (CHEDV), and as an IT Specialist at the Hospital Centre of Tâmega e Sousa (CHTS) in Penafiel, where he was involved in the development of several projects in the area of Electronic Clinical Process and Interoperability. Hugo Peixoto has a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Minho, Portugal, with a thesis centred on Interoperability Strategies in a Healthcare Environment. He also has a master's degree in Medical Informatics, during which he had the opportunity to collaborate with the research team at the Department of Informatics at the University of Freiburg, Germany. Since 2009, he has been a member of the Information Systems Technologies research team in the Knowledge Extraction Group (KEG) at the ALGORITMI Centre at the University of Minho. In addition, he has held a position as Assistant Professor of Knowledge Extraction and Electronic Clinical Process to the Biomedical Engineering Course at the University of Minho. He has also participated in the organisation of several international workshops (including FiCloud 2017, AISCOVID19-2021 and AISCOVID19-2022), is a reviewer for indexed journals and international conferences and a member of the scientific committee of several international conferences. He is currently guest Editor of a Special Issue entitled Advances in Machine Learning for Healthcare Applications. He has indexed articles and 277 citations, with a Scopus h-index of 10. In 2022, he was awarded the Diploma of Pedagogical Merit by the School of Engineering at the University of Minho. He has also participated in various research projects funded by different entities, such as the ICDS4IM project - Intelligent Clinical Decision Support in Intensive Care Medicine, the Integrated and Innovative Solutions for the well-being of people in complex urban centres project and the more recent ones included in mobilising agendas such as GreenAuto: Green innovation for the Automotive Industry and BE.Neutral Mobility Agenda for carbon neutrality in cities. It also participates in the partnership project established between Bosch and the University of Minho neXt Sense - Safety Connected and Automated Vehicles.
