Cláudia Gomes Silva (C.G. Silva) graduated in Chemical Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP) in 2001 and completed a two-year MSc course on Environmental Engineering in 2003 at the same institution. She obtained her Ph.D. degree in Chemical and Biological Engineering from the University of Porto in 2008. She was distinguished with an Honorable Mention of the Portuguese Young Chemists Award for the best PhD thesis (Portuguese Chemical Society, 2010). In 2009, she moved to Valencia (Spain) to work as a Post-Doctoral Researcher at Instituto de Tecnología Química, where she started a new research line on visible-light photocatalysis for water splitting. In 2010, she returned to LSRE-LCM to continue her research on environmental photocatalysis (H2 generation from biomass and wastewater treatment). In May 2014, she was hired by LSRE-LCM as an Assistant Researcher, and later that year, she earned an Assistant Researcher position in the framework of the FCT Investigator Programme for developing a project on Selective Photocatalytic Organic Synthesis. Since October 2020, she has been an Assistant Professor at FEUP, lecturing Chemistry, Product Engineering, Industrial Chemistry, and Sustainability to BSc and MSc students. C.G. Silva co-authored more than 300 publications, including ISI-indexed papers, book chapters, and communications in conference proceedings. She is currently Associate Editor of the journal Photochemical & Photobiological Sciences (Springer), a member of the Editorial Board of Frontiers in Chemistry (Frontiers), Catalysts (MDPI), PhotoChem (MDPI), and a member of the RSC Advances Reviewer Panel (Royal Society of Chemistry). She is a member of the Scientific International Committee of SPEA - European Meeting on Solar Chemistry and Photocatalysis: Environmental Applications. C.G. Silva is currently Vice-President of the Iberian Association of Photocatalysis, President of the Group of Industrial Chemistry of the Portuguese Chemical Society, and Chair of the Advisory Board and Vogal of the Porto's Delegation of The Portuguese Chemical Society. She is regularly involved in the supervision of PhD and MSc students and in the organization of scientific and pedagogical activities for science dissemination, including the organization of national and international conferences.
