OC Monteiro is graduated in Chemical Engineering from Universidade do Porto (1994). She was assistant at Departamento de Química, Universidade da Madeira (1994-1997). In 2003, she completed a PhD degree in Chemistry at the Universidade de Aveiro. Since then, she is at Departamento de Química e Bioquímica, Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa (DQB-FCUL); she was post-doc until 2007, and assistant researcher, with a Ciência2007 fixed term contract, until 2013. Between 2013 and 2015, she has had an invited assistant professor contract. After, and during five years (2015-2020) she was assistant researcher with an Investigator FCT fixed term contract. In July 2020, and after approval of her application for the CEEC Individual 2018 - 2nd edition call, she has started a new assistant researcher fixed term contract at FCUL. From December of the same year and until May of 2023, she has been assistant professor, with tenureship, at DQB-FCUL. Since June 2023, she has been associate professor at DQB-FCUL. She has 81 scientific publications: 72 papers in international peer-review journals (scopus), 5 proceedings in international conferences and 4 papers in peer review national journals. From the scientific papers published in international journals, 49% were as corresponding author, 60 were published in first quartile (Q1) journals, with 5 in TOP10 and 6 in TOP5 journals and 12 in Q2; 48.8% of those papers are in the top 25% most cited documents worldwide and 83.3% are in the top 25% journals (CiteScore). She has given 12 invited plenary and keynotes talks in national and international conferences. She is member of the scientific committee of 5 international conferences and evaluator of Qatar Foundation and South Africa National Research Foundation. Her research has been focused on the design, synthesis, and application of tailored nanocrystalline semiconductor materials for photocatalytic assisted oxidation processes, mainly for removal of industrial pollutants. Related with this topic she has been the principal investigator (PI) of several scientific research projects. In the last 10 years she, as PI, had funding approved for 4 scientific research projects. Prior to this period, and at the beginning of her pos-doc period, she was PI of the funded project - The study of phenol photodegradation using nanocrystalline semiconductors catalysts. Under this project and together with its scientific management, she was in charge for the design/project, installation and implementation of a photochemical reaction assembly that is still now under her responsibility. In the period 2011-2015, she was the principal investigator of the project -Titanate nanotubes photosensitization by narrow bandgap semiconductor nanoparticles. More recently, she was the PI of the project- Functionalization of titanate nanostructures for selective adsorption and photocatalysis. Until the end of 2022, and, as principal investigator, she has been responsible for the Portugal-Poland Bilateral Cooperation project (2019-2022) - Novel photo(electro)active hybrid nanomaterials for environmentally sustainable applications. Recently, and also as principal investigator, she had a new scientific project approved by FCT: Exploring new hybrid titanate nanotubular materials as UV shields for sustainable applications, that will start in 2023. Her participation in other 12 research projects allowed the expansion of scientific knowledge in materials synthesis, application, and related areas. During the last 10 years, she maintains scientific international collaborations namely with Poland, Czech Republic, UK and Australia. She completed the supervision of 1 post-Doc, 12 projects fellows, 1 PhD and 11 MSc students and 14 international young researchers from exchange programs
