Vítor Oliveira graduated in Physics from the University of Lisbon in 1996. He completed his Masters degree in Surface Science and Engineering from Nova University of Lisbon in 1998, and received his PhD degree in Materials Science and Engineering from Técnico Lisboa in 2002. His PhD thesis was about laser texturing of ceramics materials using pulsed nanosecond ultraviolet lasers. Following his PhD thesis, his research work has been mostly focused on the surface micro- and nano-texturing of materials using femtosecond laser radiation. Currently, V. Oliveira is currently a teacher of physics at the Instituto Superior de Engenharia de Lisboa (ISEL).
