Isabel Moura is a Full Chemistry Professor at NOVA School of Science and Technology (Lisboa, Portugal). Since 2021, she is a Member of the European Academy of Sciences, having been awarded with several other Distinctions, Prizes and Honours. Presently, she has more than 493 articles and an h-index of 61 (sum of times cited 13812), being an active participant in several international and national conferences as invited plenary and keynote speaker. Relevant plenary Lectures: FEGIPS5 Toulouse 1999, 15Th Portuguese Biochemistry Congress , Aveiro 2006, ICBIC 13 Vienna, Austria 2007, EUROBIC 19 Thessaloniki, Greece 2010, ISABIC 13 Galway, Ireland 2016. Member of the editorial board of Journal Inorganic Biochemistry and Journal of Biological Inorganic Chemistry. Since 2014 she has been part of the evaluation panel of Advance ERC grants.<br> Isabel Moura has been PI of 30 R&D Projects (with more than 2 million Euros financing; only projects after 2000 are listed here), participating also as a research member in numerous (20) other R&D Projects (National and International). She has an extended, long, experience in student and researcher supervision (16 Post-Docs, 34 PhD students and also several Master and Undergraduate students).<br> Isabel Moura main work has been focused on: structure-function of metalloproteins; application of biochemical and spectroscopic techniques (NMR, EPR and Mössbauer) to metalloprotein characterization; proteins involved in relevant bacterial N and S biogeocycles; active sites including Cu, Co, hemes, iron-sulfur centres (rubredoxin type, [2Fe-2S], [3Fe-4S], [4Fe-4S]), as well as association of Fe-S centres with Mo, W, Ni, siroheme and flavines; new type of clusters and new metal associations is also one of the main topics of research.<br> Recently a major emphasis has been the study of enzymes from the denitrification pathway mainly nitrous oxide reductase, a copper enzyme with unusual copper centre (the catalytic site) with four copper atoms and a sulfide, and nitric oxide reductase (a membrane enzyme) with a binuclear iron centre as the catalytic centre.
