I obtained my PhD in Sustainable Energy Systems from Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon (IST/ULisboa), under the partnership of MIT-Portugal Programme in 2022. I have published nine papers in high-impact factor journals, with a current h-index of 8 (Scopus), 7 in the last five years. I have made presentations at various international conferences, having 15 conference papers. Some presented worldwide at the most important conferences in wave and tidal energy (EWTEC) and Ocean, Offshore and Arctic Engineering Conference (OMAE). I have two patent applications for Platforms for the support of marine activities with Refs. PT 119136 and WO2019/235948A1 / PT110774(A) involving oscillating-water-column wave energy converters. In the last year, I have strengthened collaborations with national and international industrial partners such as Vestas Wind Systems (World leader wind turbine manufacturer), HelioREC (Leader in floating solar PV start-up), BlueOasis, and WavEC Offshore Renewables through joint master projects supervision and additional collaborations to tackle technical problems based on my expertise. Furthermore, I have taught, since 2017, in more than 24 master courses (e.g. Wave Energy, Projects in Marine Renewable Energies, Wind Energy, Offshore Wind Energy, Ocean Energy Systems Technologies, Economics, Policy and Environment), and one undergraduate course (Fluid Mechanics I) at IST/ULisboa. I am supervising six master theses and projects and collaborating on a PhD student research visit supervision. I have already supervised, co-supervised or accompanied about 14 master theses and post-graduate projects, many of them associated with sustainable energy systems' integration, naval engineering, floating wind technologies, and cost reduction initiatives through advanced multi-physics engineering models and techno-economic approaches. Moreover, I have also participated in and led several EU and national R&D project proposals for funding acquisition (pre-awards activities) and had both post-award project management and research responsibilities in the last eight years, projects totalling more than 13 million euros (e.g. OPERA, OceaNET, WETFEET, WaveBuoy, BlueCAO). Recently, the Basque Country adjudicated a new proposal for an innovation procurement process to which I also made significant contributions. Moreover, I have been invited as an expert speaker on themes related to innovation in green technologies (Portugal), industry and academic synergies (Portugal), and offshore renewables at Hanze UAS (The Netherlands) and Energy Academy (The Netherlands). Also, I have acted as an advisor within the framework of the Emporia4KT EU Project for a Team of Post-doc and PhD researchers for the commercialisation plan development of the AQUAPLAT technology (conceived within my PhD Research). In addition, I am one of the advisors of a team participating in the USA Marine Energy Collegiate Competition (MEEC) 2023 (a contest sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy), among other dissemination activities. In addition, I will receive this May the award "21/22 Excellent Professor" by IST/ULisboa, and I received the 2022 award as Best Master Student in the "Economics and Management in Science, Technology and Innovation" (EMSTI), which I am finishing in September 2023, an award given by "Caixa Geral de Depósitos". Moreover, I am currently a guest editor for the journal Energies for a special issue on wave farms and hybrid systems. I am a mechanical engineer with more than 19 years of experience in both industry and research organisations. I have followed various master's and post-graduate programmes in Industrial Project Management (URBE), International Business Administration (Walden University), Renewable Energies (HANZE UAS-IST/ULisboa), Marine Renewable Energy Systems (IST/ULisboa), Sustainable Energy Systems (IST/ULisboa-MIT), and I am concluding a master programme in EMSTI (ISEG/ULisboa).
