Daniele Bortoli

Daniele Bortoli (DB). Graduated in Physics at the "Alma Mater Studiorum" Bologna University (Italy) in 1998 and completed his PhD in Atmospheric Physics at Évora University (UE) (Portugal) in 2005. Presently, is assistant professor at the Physics Department of the UE. From 2008 to the end of 2013 he held a Ciência 2007 research contract, hosted by the Évora Geophysics Centre (CGE). From November 2013 to October 2018, DB detained a research contract as principal investigator at the University of Evora. Since 2007 he is a non-stipendiary invited research fellow of the Italian Research Council. In 2007 (International Polar Year) DB participated in the creation of the Portuguese Polar Program. He undertook scientific collaborations with the Antarctic Projects of Italy, India, Bulgaria and New Zealand. Since 2015, DB is the Portuguese representative in the Atmospheric Working Group (AWG) of the International Arctic Science Committee (IASC) [https://iasc.info/our-work/working-groups/atmosphere] and in the Physical Science Group (PSG) of the Scientific committee for Antarctic Research (SCAR) [https://scar.org/science/physical/physicalsciences]. He is the scientific National Contact Person (NCP) for the Aerosol Clouds and Trace gases Research Infrastructure (ACTRIS)[ https://www.actris.eu/]; since 2013, he is the national PI of for the European Aerosol Research Lidar Network (EARLINET) (https://www.earlinet.org) and the responsible for the permanent Raman LIDAR station at the Evora Atmospheric Science Observatory (EVASO). DB was the promoter of the entry of the instrumentation operating in EVASO into the E-PROFILE (https://e-profile.eu) observation network and partially into CLOUDNET (https://cloudnet.fmi.fi). His main fields of research are the physics and chemistry of atmospheric compounds at high/mid-latitudes, the ozone hole in Arctic and Antarctica and characterization of solar radiation. The results of his research are contained in more than 200 articles, of these, 126 indexed in Scopus database (h-index=20). In addition, DB develops remote sensing instrumentation to study atmospheric composition. He developed the SPATRAM (Spectrometer for Atmospheric TRAcers Monitoring) prototype equipment, being different versions of this instrument type (even if with different names) installed in permanent stations: Portugal, Italy, Antarctica, Bulgaria, Ghana. He was/is involved in several national and international funded projects (5 as PI; 4as WP responsible). DB took part in about 20 field campaigns, including 6 Italian Antarctic Expeditions. He carries out reviewer activities periodically, he is Editorial Board member of 2 international Q1 journals, he participates in Academic juries and gained teaching experience, lecturing several courses at UE.

2023/02/05 - 2023/12/31	Measurements Intercomparison for New Spectroscopic Instrument Calibration (MINSPEC). This experiment took place for two weeks at the SanPietroCapofiume station (Italy). The main aim was to make the new spectrometric system named SPATRAM3 compliant to the ACTRIS requirements . 2023/01/28 - 2023/04/05	Ground-based/Satellite Synergies for TrAcers Monitoring in Urban Areas. (GSS-TAMUA). The Mobile Station for Air Quality (EMQA) of the University of Evora, has been mooved to the AGORA facilities (Granada SPAIN). The EMQA is equipped with the remote sensing system obtaining measurements os solar scattered radiation for the application of the DOAS and MAX-DOAS algorithms.
