Gemma Martínez-Laiz graduated in Biology at University of Seville (2010-2014) awarded with special distinction. She did an Erasmus Mundus MSC in Marine Biodiversity and Conservation (EMBC+, 2014-2016), where she received training in 5 European countries. Language skills: English, French, Italian and Portuguese. At present, she's full time PhD student and teaching staff at University of Seville, granted with 4-year contract from the Spanish Governement. 2 international research proyects; 6 scientific publications and 14 communications in congresses and dissemination initiatives, including press, science fairs and active role at a scientific outreach association for 7 years. Awarded with the Judith A. Pederson & James T. Carlton Early Carreer Scientists award in 2018. In the last 3 years, she has carried out 4 PhD internships abroad at Universidade do Porto (Porto, Portugal), Murdoch University (Perth, Australia), Waikato University (Tauranga, New Zealand) and Bristih Columbia University (Vancouver, Canada). Her scientific output focusses on the role of recreational boating as vector for introduction and spread of alien species; and elaborates on both the ecological and social aspect of this problem.
