Vitor Manuel dos Santos Gomes. Visual artist, researcher and professor at the Department of Visual Arts and Design at the School of Arts, University of Évora. PhD in Fine Arts, specializing in Art Sciences at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon since 2017. Director of the Department of Visual Arts and Design at the School of Arts of the University of Évora between 2021 and 2023; Director of the Degree in Fine Arts and Multimedia at the University of Évora between 2020 e 2023. Researcher - IN2PAST Associate Laboratory for Research and Innovation in Heritage, Arts, Sustainability and Territory. Collaborating member of CIEBA; University of Lisbon. Integrated member of CHAIA, University of Évora. Vitor Gomes' research within the scope of the Doctoral Course aimed to think, investigate, interpret and invite a reflection on the different dimensions contained in the artistic, cultural and aesthetic theme of a Cultural History of the View, in the specific case through Landscape. At the beginning of the 21st century, we can witness the reiteration of the importance of the landscape understood as a figuration of an artistic, cultural, social and aesthetic system that can and must support a Cultural History of the View. For W. J. T. Mitchell, traditional art history would study artists, artistic practices, styles and movements, and institutions, while visual culture studies would study scientific and technical images, film and television, digital imaging, the semiotics of images, the psychoanalysis of images, exhibitions and audiences. This understanding justifies a matrix of the History of Art and Visual Studies in the current academic research of Vitor Gomes. To this list must be added the key element that is the artistic practice, the interpretation and the look, an element that constitutes the mark of the History of Art and Visual Studies at the present time and in the background establishes a structural dynamics in the so-called Sciences of Art.

2023/01/26 Searching for connections in contemporary art: dialogues with Others through performance art. We live in modern times where everything is so fleeting and there is hardly room to appreciate the simple aesthetic and artistic experiences that life in its generosity gives us. This project work is about finding these experiences and inserting them in my life and in the lives of the people around me. During my journey, I try to find more genuine ways of communication and connection through performances that challenge my routine.
