I am El Khalil Cherif, a passionate researcher specializing in using machine learning with Remote Sensing, GIS, Ocean, Land and environmental science data. Holding a PhD in Water Chemistry, Environment and Remote Sensing-Science and Technology, and a Master's in Sustainable Blue Growth - Blue Economy, I combine research expertise with a commitment to collaboration and effective communication. My research has contributed to over 30 publications (H-index of 11, with over 397 citations since 2019), demonstrating a strong track record of success in international research projects. My diverse international experience includes working on the FIREFRONT project, researching methods for mapping fire detections from drones, and the SILVANUS project, developing remote sensing-based products for wildfire prevention. I have also collaborated on projects related to coastal water quality monitoring in Spain, Italy and Slovenia. I am proficient in six languages: Arabic, French (C2), English (C1), Portuguese (A2), Spanish (B1), Slovenian (A1). This proficiency has been instrumental in facilitating cross-cultural collaboration in international events, such as COY and COP. My research focuses on leveraging environmental monitoring, advanced machine learning algorithms, and sustainable coastal development to promote the Blue Economy, particularly in the context of coastal hazard detection. My background in journalism has equipped me with strong communication skills, including scientific writing, technical communication, and presentations, which are essential for building international partnerships. I am an active member of the Moroccan delegation for climate change, where I believe that diplomacy is key to addressing climate change challenges, and I am dedicated to using my research and communication skills to advocate for a sustainable future.
