During the course of this scientific career Dr Mira has edited four research topics in international journals with peer-review, and is author/co-author of 2 book chapters, 72 published research articles (33 published in the last 5 years of activity, 20 as corresponding author) and 3 articles published in the proceeding of an international conference. He is also author/co-author of 111 communications in national and international meetings, out of which 27 were in the form of oral communications. According with ISI (https://www.webofscience.com/wos/author/record/E-2965-2012), Dr Mira has an h-index of 29 his publications being cited 3171 times (in 2254 citing articles). His scientific activity is developed in the areas of : i) Gene and genomic regulation studies in Yeasts to unveil relevant aspects of their physiology and/or patho-physiology, as well as relevant ecological interactions with other species, aiming to solve pressing issues in industrial biotechnological processes and in health; ii) Development of new therapies against fungal infections, in particular those caused by Candida spp, through the engineering of tailored-made materials, design of new chemicals and development of antagonistic probiotics; iii) Exploitation of Saccharomyces cerevisae and non-conventional Yeasts as cell factories for the production of add-value chemicals (including those that are "new-to-nature") exploring systems- and synthetic biology-based approaches supported by computational metabolic modelling; Dr Mira is/was PI of 9 research projects (8 nationally funded, 1 funded in the framework of the 6th Era Net in Industrial Biotechnology), is member of two international networks (one funded within the framework of the EraSynBio Twinning activity for which Dr Mira was PI and the other funded by CAPES-Print, in Brasil) and was national coordinator of 1 COST action. He is/was team member of 11 research projects for which he was not PI. He is/was supervisor/co-supervisor of 10 PhD thesis, 39 MsC thesis and 5 BsC thesis.
