Teresa M. Ribeiro-Rodrigues is a researcher at the Coimbra Institute for Clinical and Biomedical Research (iCBR) and a Fluorescence Microscopy specialist at the Microscopy and Bioimaging Lab (iLAB, FMUC). She obtained her PhD in 2024 from the Inter-University Doctoral Programme in Ageing and Chronic Diseases, conducting research at the University of Coimbra, Newcastle University, University of Liverpool, and Harvard Medical School. Her research focuses on endothelial cell biology, intercellular communication, and proteostasis, with a particular emphasis on cardiovascular diseases. Her contributions to cardiovascular and cellular biology have resulted in high-impact publications in journals such as Journal of Cell Science, Cardiovascular Research, EMBO J, Autophagy, FASEB Journal, PLoS Computational Biology, Trends in Cell Biology, and Scientific Reports. Teresa has presented her work at numerous international conferences (including International Gap Junction Conference 2022 - Emerging Star Award and ESC Congress 2013 - Young Investigators Award(Basic Science)) and has been awarded multiple research grants, including a FLAD research grant, which enabled her to train at Harvard Medical School in advanced microscopy and intercellular trafficking. Beyond research, Teresa has actively contributed to the supervision of master’s students (3 finished, 1 ongoing), participation in teaching activities for master’s and PhD courses, and the organization of international conferences, including SINAL 2024, the 9th EU-CARDIOPROTECTION COST Action Meeting, and the 1st Meeting on Vesicular Biology (MVB). She is an active reviewer for journals such as Journal of Cellular and Molecular Medicine, International Journal of Molecular Sciences, and Revista Portuguesa de Cardiologia. At iLAB, Teresa provides training and technical support in advanced imaging techniques, overseeing experiment design, sample preparation, and data analysis. She plays a key role in implementing and optimizing novel microscopy methodologies, ensuring the facility’s continued innovation and excellence. She has participated in several specialized training programs, including courses on advanced imaging techniques and image analysis.
