Ricardo G. Teixeira completed his university studies at the University of Lisbon, where he obtained his MSc (Faculty of Sciences of University of Lisbon) and PhD (University of Lisbon) degrees working with organometallic compounds. His Master’s thesis was focused on the development of ruthenium-based compounds as prospective anticancer agents and was supervised by Professor Andreia Valente and Professor Clara Viñas. During his Master’s, he also had the opportunity to enrich his professional (and cultural) experience during a short-term scientific mission at the Prof. Clara Viñas' Group at the Institute of Materials Science of Barcelona (ICMAB-CSIC, Spain) where he worked on the synthesis and characterization of new Ru-carboranyl complexes as potential anticancer bimodal agents. In May 2024, he completed his PhD in Chemistry (specialty in Inorganic Chemistry; summa cum laude) under the supervision of Professor Andreia Valente and Professor Ana Isabel Tomaz. During his PhD work, he developed new organometallic Ru(II)-based metallodrugs with fluorescent properties to tackle multidrug resistant cancers. In 2022 he was a visiting student at the Department of Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry (University of Szeged, Hungary) under the supervision of Professor Éva Ana Enyedy, performing biospeciation studies and gaining skills in spectroscopic tools to study interactions of metallodrugs with endogen bioligands. Ricardo G. Teixeira is currently a postdoctoral fellow at Instituto Superior Técnico working on synthesis of cocrystals using mechanochemistry under the supervision of Doctor Vânia André and Doctor Clara Gomes. He co-authors a total of 13 publications (>160 citations, Scopus) in peer-reviewed international journals and has an h-index of 7 (Scopus). Among them, 3 papers rank in the Top 5% of the field and 2 in the Top 10%; 2 of them have been featured on the front cover of the top Medicinal Chemistry Journal (Journal of Medicinal Chemistry), and another was prized as a HOT Topic and featured on the inside cover of Inorganic Chemistry Frontiers. He also co-authors 1 book chapter of international circulation. His work has been presented in 9 oral presentations so far and over 21 poster communications.
