CV (for download - http://www.fe.up.pt/systec/CVDmitry.pdf) Professional and Academic Background: I, Dmitry Karamzin, graduated with honors from Moscow State University in 2000 and completed my PhD in 2004. Since then, I have authored over 100 peer-reviewed papers with a total impact factor of 40 and more than 700 citations (Scopus: 84/741). I have also published a book with Springer and contributed extensively as a corresponding author, with over 20 articles published in Q1 journals in Engineering, Automation and Control, Applied Mathematics, Optimization, and Nonlinear Analysis. My work has significantly impacted these research areas thanks to newly discovered theorems and constructed algorithms in these areas. In 2006, I established a research group of five members, including PhD and MSc students. I have supervised two MSc theses and one PhD thesis. My academic work has been recognized with five awards, and I have been actively involved in FCT-funded projects such as SFRH/BPD/26231/2006 and PTDC/EEA-CRO/116014/2009. These experiences reflect my ongoing commitment to advancing research and fostering academic development in my field. In 2012, I obtained my D.Sc. degree from Moscow State University with a thesis on "Abnormal and Degenerate Problems in Nonlinear Analysis and Optimal Control." Afterward, I held postdoctoral fellowships at UNESP, Brazil (2013–2015) through the “Ciência sem Fronteiras” and “Jovem Talentos” programs, and at SYSTEC/FEUP, Portugal (2016–present). These experiences have greatly enriched my research expertise and contributed to my ongoing academic career in nonlinear analysis and optimal control. Key Research Contributions: . Impulsive Control Theory - Introduced a novel concept of impulsive controls, allowing additional controls on system discontinuities. This framework addresses engineering applications involving rapid changes, such as mass redistribution, during impulse application. These results were published in the monograph Arutyunov, Karamzin, Pererira. Optimal Impulsive Control. The Extension Approach (2019) Lecture Notes in Control and Information Sciences, in Springer. . State-Constrained Optimal Control Problems - Established a normal maximum principle and developed a controllability matrix for state-constrained problems, with a normality condition given by the controllability matrix rank. These results were published in Karamzin (2023) Journal of Differential Equations. . Higher-order State-Constrained Optimal Control Problems - Based on higher-order controllability conditions, a non-degenerate Pontryagin maximum principle is established. The energy conservation law is derived as a consequence of extremality. The connection with the classical form of necessary optimality conditions is investigated.
