Renata Barros is a senior Nutritionist (Specialist in Clinical Nutrition), Assistant Professor of Human Nutrition at Universidade do Porto - FCNAUP, and Integrated Research Member at Epidemiology Research Unit (UID/DTP/04750/2013), Institute of Public Health University of Porto (ISPUP), Laboratory for Integrative and Translational Research in Population Health (ITR) - Lab dietary intake and exercise in obesity, asthma and allergy. She has extensive scientific and pedagogical evidence-based experience in clinical nutrition, human nutrition and dietary patterns during lifecycle. She concluded her PhD in Clinical Nutrition (Thesis, Dietary intake, and obesity in asthma control and prevention) in 2014, a Master's in Clinical Nutrition (Thesis, Mediterranean Diet, Obesity and Asthma) in 2007, and Licenciatura in Ciências da Nutrição - 5y Nutrition Degree, in 2001, by FCNAUP. She is Vice-President of the Pedagogical Council, Member of the Scientific and Representative Councils in FCNAUP, Member of the Scientific Committee of the Doctoral Program Nutrition Sciences and Food Consumption, Mentoring Coordinator of the Mentoring Program at FCNAUP, Member of the Scientific and Pedagogical Coordinator Council and Transversal Commission of the Mentoring Program of the University of Porto. She is Member of ASAE's Scientific Council - Human Nutrition and Food Allergy Panel in Autoridade e Segurança Alimentar e Económica (ASAE), Representative Member of the University of Porto and Vice-President of General Assembly of RIESDM (Higher Education Network to promote the Mediterranean Diet), and was Member of the General Council of Portuguese Nutrition Society (Ordem dos Nutricionistas) between 2015 - 2019. She has extensive experience in clinical nutrition practice and coordination, namely at the medical and health department (SASUP, University of Porto), hospitals, primary care centres, private practice and IPSS institutions since 2001. Researcher and coordinator in more than ten national and international projects in human nutrition, clinical nutrition and diet and health during the lifecycle, with extensive experience in the field, like Mediterranean Diet, Obesity and Asthma, Dietary intake, Obesity, and Asthma Control and Prevention, Food Allergy and Nutritional Status, Food Allergy Community Program, MED-E, Nutriclock, Plate - Technology-Based Food Literacy Program in Schools: the prevention of obesity in adolescence (CIência Viva), Nutriscience (EEA Grants funded), Body&Brain (FCT funded), FACET (EU Commission 7th framework funded), and additional Human Nutrition in lifecycle research projects, with significant national and international research groups collaboration. Published over 50 articles in international journals with peer review and high impact factor, participated in more than 100 international and national conferences (invitation, oral communications and poster presentations). Has 1 section(s) of an international book and 4 national book(s). Supervised more than 4 PhD thesis and 7 MSc dissertation(s), 17 academic internships in Nutrition Degree (FCNAUP) and professional internships in the Portuguese Nutrition Society. Namely, the link between diet and chronic conditions prevention, the Mediterranean diet and healthy sustainable dietary patterns, global nutrition, diet and physical activity interventions, nutrition biomarkers, metabolomics, chrono-nutrition, e-health technologies and health literacy, and how they could modulate asthma, food allergy, obesity, inflammation, and metabolic health outcomes during the lifecycle.
