I graduated in Biology and Biotechnology in 2016, obtained my master´s degree in Pharmacy and Chemistry of Natural Products in 2018 and my PhD in Agro-Food Sciences and Technology in july 2024. In 2024 (september) I was awarded an postdoc grant (Mush4Chol, a project funded by the FCT). In recent years, I have acquired relevant knowledge in the field of food science and technology, with a focus on research into natural matrices and food safety. In the future, I would like to deepen my knowledge in food chemistry to develop food products that are enriched with high value-added molecules and provide significant benefits to consumers. Currently, my research efforts are focused on the recovery of functional molecules from biowaste from different areas of the food industry, which contributes to the sustainability of the processes. As an integrated member of CIMO/SusTec, I have focused my work on the agri-food sector, with particular emphasis on the implementation of more ecological and sustainable methods. My scientific activity has resulted in the publication of 12 articles in indexed scientific journals, 1 book chapter and 2 articles in non-indexed journals focusing on the extraction of ingredients from various natural matrices for use in food as well as the development of innovative food products. I have participated with presentations and posters in 23 national and international scientific dissemination events. I am guest editor of a special issue of the journal Foods (MDPI; IF= 4.7) entitled Extraction of Bioactive Compounds in Food: Technologies, Challenges and Perspectives. I have also supervised undergraduate students and am currently supervising 2 Master's students. My research focuses on the recovery of high value-added molecules from biowaste and undervalued plants, the development of differentiated products such as nutraceuticals and functional foods, and the application of food safety methods.
