Ana M Lopes completed her PhD in Biodiversity, Genetic and Evolution on June 2016 at the University of Porto in collaboration with INSERM-Nantes, where the work was partially developed. She was Post-Doc Fellow (FCT grant) from 2016-2019 in InBIO and in 2019 she started a Researcher position at the same institution (contract funded by FCT). She has been developing research on the co-evolutionary mechanisms that drive host-pathogen interactions, using rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus and the European rabbit as a model. She recently expanded her research to other viruses and models, e.g. adenovirus in squirrels and Hepatitis E virus in rabbits. She is PI of an FCT-funded project (RESTART) and was Co-PI of a PRIMA Foundation Project (LAGMED), both awarded in competitive calls. She supervised 3 BSc internships, 2 MSc student, 2 ERASMUS students, and gave tutoring to several other students (MSc and PhD) and research technicians. She authored or co-authored more than 40 papers in international peer-reviewed journals (13 as first author, 3 as co-first author and 1 as senior author), which were cited more than 1600 times (h-index of 20). The vast majority of these papers were published in first quartile (Q1) journals, such as Plos Pathogens (3), Scientific Reports (4) and Journal of Virology (2). She participated in several international conferences and organized four scientific meetings. She is a member of the Animal Welfare Ethics and Review Body of BIOPOLIS, and is a regular reviewer for top journals in the field of Virology. She has also been engaged in outreach and science education activities, participating in several events for the general public, such as Bioblitz and International Microorganism Day in Centro de Ciência Viva.
