E. Logarinho concluded her PhD in Biomedical Sciences by the University of Porto (UP) in 2002. After her PhD, embraced a full-time professorship career path. E. Logarinho became an Assistant Professor at the ISCS-N/CESPU Health Sciences School (2002-2007), and in 2007, she joined the Medical School/ICVS/UMinho as full-time Assistant Professor (2007-2009). In 2009, E. Logarinho returned to full-time research career path under Ciência 2008 program, joining H. Maiato lab at IBMC. Her work on mechanisms ensuring mitotic spindle-pole integrity (Nat Cell Biol 2012, 1st author) was acknowledged with an invited review in Nat Cell Biol 2014 (co-senior author) and Pfizer 2011 and SPGH 2013 prestigious national prizes. In July 2013, she was awarded a Junior Researcher position funded by ON.2/QREN/FEDER to launch innovative research lines at IBMC (now part of the i3S Consortium/UP). In 2015, she was highly recommended by the IBMC External Advisory Board for an independent research group status, and simultaneously awarded with an FCT Investigator competitive grant. Currently, she holds a CEEC (FCT scientific employment) position and leads the Aging & Aneuploidy group, composed of 5 Post-Docs (2 CEEC), 2 PhD and 2 MSc students , dedicated to high-profile research on molecular mechanisms contributing to aging and age-related diseases. Her group applies interdisciplinary approaches to address how regulated instruction of proliferative fitness and genomic stability decelerates senescence in mouse models of Down syndrome, progeria and aging. Within i3S Cancer Program, E. Logarinho is tackling the question on how aging is the major risk factor for tumorigenesis, with focus on CIN and senescence. The originality of her work has caught international recognition as attested by the Maximon Longevity Prize 2022, a strong collaborative network and track record, the delivery of invited talks in prestigious conferences (e.g. Salk Institute, CNIO, CSHL, ERIBA), the evaluation of international grants as expert, invited reviews, and co-chairing of a Forbeck forum in Cancer. Selected publications, out of 18 in the last 5 years, include as senior/co-senior author: Nat Aging, Nat Commun, Embo Rep, Cell Death Dis. The past quinquennial was auspicious to her career consolidation: i) in managing a team (completed the supervision of 7 PhD, 4 MSc and 2 Post-Docs); ii) in securing funding (as a PI, secured >1.7M euros competitive funding in grants: 4 FCT national grants; 1 grant from Progeria Research Foundation; 1 grant from Jeróme Lejeune Foundation; 1 grant from Compete 2020/Portugal2020 in co-promotion with Insparya company, plus 3 CEEC postdoctoral positions (1 PI, 1 Assistant and 1 Junior) (>1.1M euros), and 7 PhD fellowships (>500k euros); moreover, the IR was a work package leader in 3 institutional network grants funded by Norte2020/Portugal2020, participant in a H2020-WIDESPREAD-2020-5 Twinning project (PhasAGE), and co-PI in a FCT project awarded to CEEC team member); and iii) in collaborating in-house within all i3S Integrative Programs. Besides her core scientific activities, the IR was vice-coordinator of the Cancer Program and member of the Restrictive Scientific Council at i3S during 2019-2022, and she has been continuously involved in MSc/PhD lectures and examinations and in outreach activities. She is also a Research Consultant at the Insparya Hair Company. E. Logarinho co-authored a total of 43 publications with >2300 citations and an h-index of 25 (Google Scholar). E. Logarinho had 3 maternity leaves (2004, 2011, 2012) and an unconventional path due to professorship career (2001-2009).
