Emanuel Sousa (MSc, PhD) is a Senior Researcher and Head of the Human-Technology Interaction and Robotics Department at the CCG Institute in Portugal. He earned his Master’s degree in Electronics and Computers in 2008 and his PhD in Robotics in 2015, both from the University of Minho. At CCG, he has participated in several research projects funded both nationally and internationally, focusing on human-machine interaction. He is currently the co-Principal Investigator (co-PI) of a project funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT). His research interests span several areas, including cognitive robotics, virtual reality-based simulation, human factors in road transportation, and human-vehicle interaction. He is the co-author of numerous peer-reviewed scientific publications, including journal articles, conference proceedings, and book chapters. He has supervised three PhD theses and is currently supervising a fourth. At the master’s level, he has co-supervised four dissertations and is currently involved in the supervision of six more. Emanuel Sousa is a member of Working Group 8 – TICS on-board-MMI within the ISO TC22 SC39 committee, which focuses on ergonomics in road vehicles.
