Patrícia Moita Geologist. PhD in 2008 from the University of Évora. Assistant Professor in the Geosciences Department since 2008. Researcher at the HERCULES Laboratory. Continues research into magmatic processes and mineralization processes (MOSTMEG project). Currently carrying out her research on multi-analytical approaches to geological materials, evaluating their processes for their CO2 sequestration potential (INCARBON basic rocks, PILOT STRATEGY) and processed geological materials (lime mortars, IMPROVE, ARCHMAT). Involved in several archaeometry studies and has been associated with various scientific dissemination activities (NEI, CV).

A área do Freixo-Redondo é constituída por rochas metamórficas (gnaisses, micaxistos, filitos. 2015. 6. Amphibolite; tools, slabs and outcrops. A preliminary study of provenances using Micro-X ray Diffraction. During the Neolithic period amphibolite is a raw material that seems to have been highly regarded for its hard and durable qualities, and used in the production of ground stone tools [1]. Less noticeable has been the use of amphibolite as building material, namely slabs as described in [2]. In fact, this type of rock outcrop is less abundant than e.g. a granite and does not allow the extraction of. 2015. 8. Building monument materials during the 3rd-4th millennium (Portugal). Dolmens are the most conspicuous remains of the populations of the 4th and first half of 3rd millennia BCE. These tombs are impressive not only for their monumentality, but also because of the socioeconomic investment they represent for those Neolithic communities, namely from the Central-South of Portugal, who built them. Although dolmens have been studied for their funerary content and typologie. 2014. 10. Low-temperature dielectric measurements of confined water in porous granites. Three different granitic rocks extracted from Évora (in the south of Portugal) where used to perform dielectric measurements in the frequency range from 100 Hz to 1 MHz and temperatures 100 - 350 K. Thin cylindrical samples were prepared and circular electrodes were established using silver conductive paint. A clear anomaly appears, for T ¿ 200 - 220 K, in the dielectric measurements of the sample. 2014. 11. New U-Pb ages for syn-orogenic magmatism in the SW sector of the Ossa Morena Zone (Portugal). The Ossa-Morena Zone (OMZ) is a major geotectonic unit within the Iberian Massif (which constitutes an important segment of the European Variscan Belt) and one of its distinguishing features is the presence of a noteworthy compositional diversity of plutonic rocks. In the SW sector of the OMZ, the tonalitic Hospitais intrusion (located to the W of Montemor-o-Novo) is considered a typical example o. 2013. 12. Close or not so close? Provenance studies of megalithic monuments from Alentejo (Portugal). There has been a significant amount of studies about megalithic tombs conducted in the Alentejo region. However the geological provenance of monoliths used in the construction of those tombs usually was not a priority among researchers with rare exceptions (Dehn, Kalb and Vortisch, 1991; Boaventura, 2000). Recent studies of dolmens (Oliveira, 1997 and 2006; Gonçalves, 2003) refer only to a brief c. 2012. Boaventura, Rui; Moita, Patricia. http://hdl.handle.net/10174/7726.
  13. Geochemical signature of the Pomarinho enclave swarm (Ossa-Morena Zone, Portugal). The enclave swarm of Pomarinho is located in the SW edge of Évora granitoid (Carvalhosa, 1983), in the SW sector of the Ossa-Morena Zone (Iberian Variscides). The Granialpa quarry constitutes a privileged exposure of that swarm and, therefore, it was used to collect samples for AMS, petrographic and geochemical studies. The dominant rock in the quarry is a medium-grained granodiorite, composed of. 2011. Molina, J. F.; Scarrow, J. H.; Bea, F.; Montero, P.. http://hdl.handle.net/10174/3844.
  14. Isotopic data from the Pomarinho enclave swarm (SW Iberian Chain). Mafic microgranular enclaves are a common feature of calc-alkaline granitoids (e.g. tonalites and granodiorites) in active continental margins and collisional orogens. They correspond to dark-coloured globules that, although widespread throughout the host rock, usually constitute only a small proportion of the whole volume of the intrusion. When the enclaves occur strongly concentrated in a restri. 2011. Moita, Patrícia; Santos, José Francisco; Silva, Pedro. http://hdl.handle.net/10174/3822.
  15. Iron age pottery from Garvão votive deposit. The Iberian Peninsula was an attractive area in ancient times due to its abundance in geological resources. Hence, the Iberian Iron Age is a period of successive social and political transformations, sometimes resulting in conflicts [1]. In 1982, an impressive votive deposit was discovered in Garvão (SW Portugal) revealing an important Iron Age II holy site [2]. Beside some uncertainties, this reg. 2011. 16. 17. Phase equilibria and geochronology of Ossa-Morena eclogites. The mineralogical evolution of OMZ eclogites was modelled by calculated P-T pseudosection analysis for an appropriate bulk composition in the model system CNFMASH. OMZ eclogites having developed a clockwise P-T path that reached 16-18 kbar and 600-650 ºC, underwent isothermal decompression to 12-10 kbar before final cooling (< 550 ºC) to greenschist facies conditions.
