Sofia Daniela Ferreira Martins

Sofia Martins is graduated in Nutritional Sciences from the Faculty of Nutrition and Food Sciences of Porto University (FCNAUP). In the last year of her bachelor (2014/2015), she spent a semester in Brazil, in a mobility programme with the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), where she did an internship and conducted her bachelor thesis. In Rio de Janeiro she was also part of the organization of the Regional Conference on Sustainable Food and Nutrition. In the same year, she started working at the Bern University of Applied Sciences, Division of Health Professions, Nutrition and Dietetics, where she took part in several projects, with a special focus on the NutriGed Project, Refugees Food Insecurity and Dysphagia. These projects resulted in several publications in national and international journals. By the end of 2016 Sofia, started her Master of Sciences in Life Sciences with a specialization in Food, Nutrition and Health, also at Bern University of Applied Sciences, having graduated in 2018. With the results of her thesis, she published a scientific paper in the Medical & Clinical Research Journal as the first author. From the end of 2018 until February 2022 she worked at the Municipality of VNF, Education Divison, where she developed and implemented the NutriEduca Project, to improve Food and Nutrition Literacy in community schools. It was in the academic year 2020/2021, that Sofia started her PhD in Public Health at the Faculty of Medicine of Porto University.
