Pedro M. Matias graduated (Licenciatura) in Chemical Engineering (Chemistry and Processes) in 1983 at the Instituto Superior Técnico of the University of Lisbon and obtained a PhD in Crystallography in 1986 at the University of Pittsburgh (USA). He is presently a career Principal Investigator at the ITQB NOVA - Instituto de Tecnologia Química e Biológica António Xavier of the NOVA University of Lisbon, coordinator of the Biological Chemistry Division and member of the Scientific Council of ITQB NOVA. He is also a member of the Research Unit MOSTMICRO-ITQB, the Associated Laboratory LS4FUTURE and director of the Structural Biology for Drug Development at iBET - Instituto de Biologia Experimental e Tecnológica. He has published to date 103 papers in international peer-reviewed journals and 4 book chapters. He organized 5 National and International Scientific events, supervised 1 PhD thesis and co-supervised 6. He also co-supervised 2 MSc dissertations.
